Long face surgical procedures
Different methods are chosen depending on the symptoms.
Orthodontics may be carried out along with two-jaw surgery or genioplasty. Both procedures are performed under general anesthesia. V-line surgery and mandible reduction surgery may be combined with orthodontics
Two-Jaw surgery
Two-Jaw surgery is suitable for patients with manibluar prognathism, facial asymmetry, and mouth protrusion. The upper jaw is partially cut and shifted upward to correct the long philtrum. After a consultation with the orthodontist, the patient may decide to reposition the upper jawbone. In case of severe facial asymmetry, the bone may be shifted to either side. Once the upper jawbone is tightly fixed, the lower jawbone may be repositioned. If the two-jaw surgery is insufficient, additional facial contouring procedures may be carried out to correct the mandibular bone, chin, and cheekbone.
